Coaches work closely with players players to build and strengthen every stroke based on their current ability level. We also educate players on not only how to hit the ball, but also how to "play" the game at the highest level.

Drawing on years of experience as a player and coach, tennis director Veronica Lima-Deangelis teaches players advanced tactics and strategies for competition. Training and the practice of both defensive and attacking game are developed on a daily basis. The NHS program emphasizes the development of basic physical skills such as endurance, strength, speed, and flexibility. We want our players to love the game, whether they are watching the game or playing the sport.

NHS players compete in singles in doubles in two matches each week during the season. Their experiences allow them to become a better person and player. Players will develop short and long-term goals and will be taught self-reliance, the importance of self-esteem, discipline, respect, time management, responsibility, and teamwork.

With nine hard courts and a professionally trained coach, NHS boasts a facility and the expertise that can help shape top-notch student-athletes. The men's team has a tradition of excellence and has enjoyed a great deal of success during the past 18 years.

  • Another good win for the Huskies

Mens Varsity Tennis drove to Brewster as the sun began to set. Although arriving later than they were hoping, they still managed to be ready and won 7-2. Unfortunately Anthony took his 2nd loss of the season as the 1. The guys did well in doubles as they usually do, winning all 3. Heads are high as they look forward to playing Vermont Academy tomorrow.
  • Another road win

Huskies travelled to Vermont for their longest away game of the year, and 3rd away game in a row. This didn't stop them from performing well, taking home the win 7-2. Vaios had his first matches of the season, but unfortunately lost them both. The huskies powered through and didn't let three days of tennis affect them. They look ahead to Friday hoping to keep up a good winning streak.
  • Strong Win vs Holderness

The Men’s Varsity Tennis team travelled north to nearby Holderness in cloudy conditions. Kav and Rubin played their first game together in doubles 3 and put up a good fight but fell short losing 5-8. Anthony battles tough in his first set 6-4 and powered through the 2nd set sweeping 6-0. Abi also won his game in an extensive 6-6 (7-5) 7-5 10-7 match, to win the final game which let New Hampton finish 7-2 on the day.
  • Winning streak continues

The huskies took on Berwick academy on a warm spring day at home, for a nice change of pace after 3 consecutive away games earlier in the week. Reilly finally won his first singles match of the season, winning the second set 6-1 after a close first set. Anthony and Ross put up both good individual performances, and together at doubles 1. Nico and Alex had the best doubles performance of the season, winning quickly, and efficiently.
  • First win of the season

The Mens Varsity Tennis team won their first game of the season 6-3 in a cold matchup at Proctor Academy. Connor Pierson and Luke Gerard played their first ever tennis match at doubles three, but couldn't get the win. However, Alex, Anthony, Ross, and Nico were all able to win both their matches.
  • Exciting win for the Huskies

Men’s Varsity Tennis headed up to KUA for their third game of the season. Despite the frigid temperatures, the huskies persevered and won 6-3. Alex and Anthony both won in close 3rd set tiebreakers. They’re looking forward to Brewster on Friday.
  • First loss of the season

The Men’s varsity tennis team hosted St. Paul’s for their first home game of the season on warm, sunny day. Unfortunately it didn’t go their way in a 1-8 loss. Positively, Anthony and Ross were able to snag one win for the team in doubles one. They’re keeping their heads up and looking forward to Wednesday where they’ll play Kimball Union
