Practical Experience, Endless Opportunities

At New Hampton School, our music program is more than a class—it’s a community. Students support each other both musically and personally, thriving in an environment that’s positive, energetic, and full of fun. Here, students are encouraged to take risks, embrace mistakes (LOUD ones!), and grow as artists while exploring their love for music.

Contemporary Performance Lab

Contemporary Performance Lab (CPL) is an inclusive ensemble spanning genres from jazz and pop to rock, hip-hop, and country, with two sections to fit all skill levels: Developmental CPL, for younger or less experienced musicians to build confidence and foundational skills, and Advanced CPL, which challenges skilled students with rigorous repertoire, songwriting, performances, and a professional recording session.

Performance Opportunities

We love to perform—music is meant to be shared, not just practiced in a room! Our musicians showcase their talents through a variety of concerts and special events.

We don't just focus on our own parts; it's about everyone and the music we are making together.

Private Lessons and Music Showcase

At New Hampton School, private music lessons help students develop their skills on instruments like guitar, bass, drums, piano, voice, and violin, with lessons also available for brass and woodwinds. Tailored to each student’s schedule, these lessons culminate in the annual music showcase, where students share their growth, creativity, and passion for music.

Musical Theatre

Students with a passion for music also have the opportunity to showcase their talents in New Hampton School’s annual musicals. These performances allow students to sing, play, and sometimes even help with choreography or instrumental accompaniment, gaining valuable stage experience while contributing to a collaborative, high-energy production.
