Athletic Training

Supporting Student-Athletes with Licensed Healthcare Professionals

As a recognized Safe Sports School, New Hampton Athletic Trainers’ main goal is to keep student-athletes healthy and injury-free. In the event of injury, our certified athletic trainers (ATCs) provide evaluations to determine safe participation status, preventive taping and bracing, and rehabilitation, and communicate with parents of injured athletes. They also keep and maintain records on each individual athlete, their injuries, and their treatments.

Athletes who are not able to participate in practice or contests will be monitored while completing their rehabilitation program
and the athletic trainer will liaise with the athlete's treating doctor or physical therapist to carry out any prescribed rehabilitative therapy.

Training Room and Facilities

The athletic training room is a 900-square-foot, multi-purpose facility, located on the first floor of the Smith Gymnasium. It is equipped with four treatment tables, a taping station, two whirlpools, e-stim ultrasound units, hot/cold hydrocollators, and an office. It is staffed by two full-time certified and state licensed ATCs who are assisted by student interns from Plymouth State University’s Athletic Training programs.
New Hampton School recently received recognition from the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) as a Safe Sports School award which reinforces the importance of providing the best level of care, injury prevention, and treatment in athletics.

New Hampton School maintains a set of protocols and procedures for the management of sports-related concussions set forth by the NH Advisory Council on Sports-Related Concussion and New Hampshire State Law. This also includes the Return to Play guidelines detailed in our Concussion Protocol document.
