Building an Elite Team

The Women’s Varsity Hockey Program is recognized as one of the premiere prep school programs in one of the most competitive high school leagues in the country. It is an elite team that attracts top student-athletes from all over, playing one of the more competitive schedules in New England with about 32 games per year. This helps prepare them for success in college on the ice and in the classroom.

New Hampton School is an ideal program for a player looking to further develop both physically and mentally. With a holistic approach to the development of its players, the coaching staff consistently seeks ways to prepare its student athletes. New Hampton uses a full-time Strength and Conditioning coach along with a yoga instructor and mindfulness coach to accomplish some of these development goals. New Hampton hockey players are very fortunate to be able to train and play in the new Jacobson Arena, completed in 2017. This arena features a state of the art ice surface with one of the most impressive team rooms in New England.

Proven Results

Since its inception in 1984, the team has had much success in both wins and college placement.  The Huskies won two NEPSAC championships in the mid 90’s and in the last four years have put up an impressive 89-27-9 record under the leadership of experienced Head Coach Craig Churchill. In that four year stretch the Huskies have won four consecutive Lakes Region League Championships, two E.G. Watkins Tournament Championships, had two NEPSAC postseason berths culminating with a 2017 NEPSAC Division 1 Championship.

Coach Churchill’s focus is on development of the individual and in his time at New Hampton has developed three invitees to USA hockey’s top 66 camp, two invitees to the U.S. under 18 training camp in Lake Placid, one USA Today Female Hockey Player of the Year (2016) and the most decorated U18 player of all time helping to bring home the gold medal in three U18 world championships as well as earning top D honors at the world championships for two years in a row (2016 & 2017). Coach Churchill has also developed players that have been recognized on the NEPSAC All-Star team, as well as the 2017 NEPSAC Player of the Year. Coach Churchill has developed five players that have reached the impressive feat of 100 points in their Husky careers.
