Four different players combined for an amazing 12 goals against the Proctor Hornets in a heated back and forth battle at Jacobsen Arena. In the first period, the Huskies found the net 4 times, with a hattrick from Helen Xu '28 and a beautiful high wrist shot from Emma Labre '27. However, proctor brought their offense to the game and the period ended tied at 4.  In the second period, senior captain Callie Paquette '26 scored her first goal of the contest and 9th grader Zoe Edwards '29 turned up the heat with two goals of her own. That wasn't quite enough as Proctor took an 8-7 lead heading into the final period.  Xu scored her fourth goal of the game early in the third to tie it up at 8-8, but again Proctor responded and took the lead 8-9 with only 7 minutes left in the game.  The Huskies continued their offensive pressure and were not ready to be done. Xu again tied the game at the 6 minute mark for her 5th and finaly tally of the day. Paquette quickly followed and put the Huskies up 10-9. Edwards scored again just 10 seconds later for her third goal of the day and first Husky Hat Trick! Paquette would add one more at the end to complete her hat trick on the day and secure the 12-10 win for the Huskies.  Several other Huskies played strong defense on the day, making some great plays and working hard to secure the lead. Roberta Scott '27, Molly Marshall '26, Chloe Sabin '29 and KK Lagessen '28 have all shown steady improvement this season and are to be recognized for their hard work all over the ice and fantastic sportsmanship with their teammates.  Sarah Pollard '27 continues to be the backbone of the Husky defense in net, making huge saves to keep the Huskies in the game all day long. Up next, the team takes on Holderness in another home contest at the Jake.

In the first home game of the season, the Huskies came from a 0-2 deficit to beat the Brewster Bobcats 8-3. Brewster jumped to their early lead less than 4 minutes into the game. The Huskies settled in after that and held Brewster to just the 2 goals to end the first period. Two minutes into the second period sophomore Helen Xu '28 netted her first of the game to cut the lead in half.  Xu followed up less than a minute later to tie the game at 2 as the game reached the halfway mark and the teams headed into the locker room for the ice resurfacing break.  Both teams emerged ready to battle for the second half.  Senior captain Callie Paquette '26 gave the Huskies their first lead of the game just 20 seconds into play. Not to be silenced too quickly, Brewster responded a few minutes later and the game was tied 3-3 with 4:00 left in the second period. Quickly taking control of the pace of play, Xu netted her 3rd and 4th goals of the game to send the Huskies into the 3rd period with a 5-3 lead.  Paquette added her second tally of the game with 6:26 to go, followed again by Xu with her 5th goal. To round out the scoring, senior captain Estelle Jennings '26 drilled home an amazing one timer off a pass from Xu to put the Huskies ahead 8-3.  Junior goal tender Sarah Pollard '27 played an incredible game, and earning her "Husky of the Game" for stopping more than 50 shots on the day, many of them breakaways from some speedy Brewster forwards who had snuck around the Husky defense.  Aside from the many goals the Huskies managed, several team members, including senior captain Jocelyn Smith '26, senior Molly Marshall '26, and 9th grader Chloe Sabin '29 should be recognized for their hard work in both the offensive and defensive zones creating plays and chances and showing great team work on the ice.

The Huskies traveled to KUA to start the second half of the season and came away with a huge 10-1 win.  5 different Huskies scored in the effort.  Katie Kavka '28 opened the scoring at the 8:03 mark in the first period with her first of two goals on the day. Emma Labre '27 followed with the eventual game winner just 2 minutes later.  Sophomore Helen Xu '28 was next on the scoreboard with a natural hattrick coming with one at the end of the first period and two coming early in the second.  Kakva then netted her second goal of the day and the Huskies were up 6-0 at the midway mark in the game.  After the ice cut, KUA came out with a little pep in their step and were able to slip one past junior goaltender Sarah Pollard '27. Not to be stopped, the Huskies came right back with a beautiful low wrist show from Zoe Edwards '29. Senior Callie Paquette '26 followed that with a two-goal shift with just 6 minutes left in the game.  Xu added her fourth of the day and the final New Hampton goal with 1 minute left in the game.  The team's passing, heads up play and agressive forechecking and backchecking showed significant growth so early in the season.  The Husky of the game went to Zoe Edwards '29 for her all out effort on both offense and defense and netting her first ever Husky goal, way to go Zoe!

The Huskies pulled out a close 3-2 victory over Proctor Academy in their first contest of the season.  Sophomore Katie Kavka '28 put the Huskies ahead in the first period with her first Husky goal on a beautiful top shelf wrist shot.  Proctor then answered with a goal of their own tying the game at 1.  Sophomore Helen Xu '28 had several near misses before connecting on a short side backhand just lifting the puck over the pad of the Proctor net-minder putting the Huskies up 2-1.  Xu connected again on an end to end rush that resulted in getting her own rebound to wrap it around and tuck it in for a 3-1 Husky lead.  Proctor keep up the pressure and was able to come within 1. Despite keeping up the pressure, the Hornets ran out of time and couldn't get another past Husky goaltender Sarah Pollard '27 who made several keys saves down the stretch to preserve the victory.  A big Husky high five to several players including senior captain Callie Paquette '26, and 9th graders Zoe Edwards '29 and Anna Perfield '29 who showed their versatility by playing both forward and defense as needed and working hard at both ends of the ice.  It was a great first effort of the season!
