    2025 - 2026

    The Men's Varsity A Basketball Program is recognized as one of the premier prep school programs in the country. It is an elite team that attracts top student-athletes from all over the country and world. The program aims to develop players and mold them into a tight, cohesive unit. This will prepare them to excel early in their careers at the collegiate level. Coach Gale emphasizes skill development and playing the "right way." Players are given opportunities to showcase their skills to college coaches, and with the help of the coaching staff, find the appropriate college destination. The Varsity A team also strives to teach student athletes how to be exemplary students and productive members of the New Hampton community. 
     
    Husky Basketball has a strong tradition of sending its athletes to play at the next level.

    The NBA has been a destination for former Huskies, too. The 2017 NBA Draft featured Husky Tyler Lydon ’17 who was selected as the 24th overall pick out of Syracuse University. The 9th overall selection in the 2014 NBA Draft, current Minnesota Timberwolf, Noah Vonleh ’13, spent 2 years at New Hampton before heading to Indiana University. The ACC’s 2012 Freshman of the year and 2015 ACC first teamer Olivier Hanlan ’13 was a second-round draft pick by the Utah Jazz.  Darius Songaila '98 was a Boston Celtics 2nd-round draft pick in 2002.  Rashad McCants '00 was a lottery pick for the Minnesota Timberwolves. Other Huskies who earned opportunities in the NBA include: Bernard Robinson '00,Awvee Storey '97 Lawrence Moten '91 (also the all-time leading scorer in the Big East), and Cuonzo Martin ’91. 
     
    New Hampton prides itself on attracting student-athletes who love the game. Many former HUSKIES continue to make basketball their career.
