Huskies Fall on the Road

New Hampton took to the road to face Class A St. Paul's School on Saturday afternoon. The Huskies came out slow and found themselves on the back foot early and then failed to find their rhythm as a team as the game wore on.

New Hampton went in to the half down 1-0 after finding themselves unable to defend a corner before St. Paul's would poke it in from inside the box.

Hoping to find their rhythm in the second half, New Hampton did a good job of pressuring the St. Paul's backline into playing long out of the back with strong pressure from Ava Perry at center forward. With injuries in the midfield, Zuri Jimenez was able to step up for the Huskies and help to slow the St. Paul's attack through the middle while Fia Swormstedt, Gianna Young, and Avery Lucier did well to contain the attack once it was forced wide.

New Hampton would again concede on a crossed ball in after a scrum in the middle found them unable to clear the ball putting them down 2-0. A third would find its way into the back of the net after a long ball into the box.

Despite the scoreline, the day saw several strong performances around the field with the center back pairing of Heidi Smith and Addy Peel again putting in a strong shift. Wing play from Brielle Lee, Audra Custance, and Casey Stores helped to give New Hampton chances, that unfortunately never found the back of the net.

New Hampton takes to the field at home for senior night on Wednesday against Lexington Christian Academy on Kennedy Field.
