Huskies Win on Senior Day

On a cold and windy Saturday afternoon, the Huskies took the field on Kennedy Turf Field to celebrate Senior Night, honoring the incredible contributions of Patrick, Jackson, Tosin, Tyler, Noah, Griffin, and Tomás—seven seniors who have left a lasting mark on the New Hampton soccer program.

The game began with a slow start, but the Huskies soon found their rhythm. Fifteen minutes in, a Winchendon handball off a New Hampton corner led to a penalty kick. Captain and senior Noah stepped up to take it, striking well, but the Winchendon goalkeeper made an excellent save that deflected off the crossbar. Moments later, Winchendon had a breakaway opportunity, but captain and goalkeeper Trey came up big with a clutch one-on-one save to keep the score level at 0–0.

With just minutes left in the first half, Trey launched a long punt that Noah flicked on to Jesús, who slipped a perfectly timed through ball to Griffin. Griffin finished calmly to give New Hampton a 1–0 lead heading into halftime.

In the second half, the Huskies came out with renewed energy—fueled by an electric and vocal bench led by Song, whose leadership and enthusiasm from the sidelines lifted the entire team. The momentum carried onto the field, and it showed immediately. Noah pounced on a loose ball inside the six-yard box, forcing a defensive mistake and slotting home the second goal of the match to redeem his earlier penalty miss.

With nine minutes left to play, Griffin fired a shot that was blocked by a Winchendon defender’s hand on the goal line—earning a red card and a penalty kick. Jackson, who had been playing his best game of the season, stepped up and buried the penalty with composure to make it 3–0 on his senior night. Moments later, Jackson—moved from defense to the wing—continued to shine, dazzling defenders with quick footwork and heading home a beautiful cross from Noah for his second goal of the game.

In the closing moments, Griffin battled at the top of the box to win a loose ball, which Tomás collected and slotted into the bottom corner to seal the 5–0 win. In goal, Trey capped off the night by stopping another one-on-one breakaway to secure the clean sheet.

It was a commanding performance and a fitting way to honor the senior class—full of leadership, energy, and togetherness both on the field and on the bench. The Huskies’ unity and joy on Senior Night reflected everything this group has built throughout the season and their time in the program.
