On Wednesday afternoon, the Huskies traveled to Kimball Union Academy for a tough matchup against one of the top Class B programs in New England. The team battled hard from start to finish, showing heart, grit, and flashes of excellent soccer despite the challenging result.
KUA struck twice in the first half, but New Hampton found its rhythm as the half progressed. The Huskies began to connect passes with confidence, moving the ball quickly with one- and two-touch sequences, and winning key 50/50 challenges. By the end of the first half, the team looked composed and determined.
Unfortunately, late in the first half, captain and goalkeeper Trey aggravated his knee while making a save and had to come off. Owen, stepping in for his first appearance of the season, rose to the occasion and delivered a strong debut—making several excellent saves and organizing the back line with composure beyond his experience.
In the second half, the Huskies continued to compete, but a well-taken corner kick from KUA led to a header goal that shifted momentum. A brief ten-minute spell followed in which KUA capitalized with three more goals. Despite the setback, New Hampton never stopped battling and continued to push forward until the final whistle.
