Tough Loss For The Huskies In Boston

On Friday night, the Huskies traveled down to Boston to take on Dexter Southfield under the lights. Despite the stage—a home game for Dexter on their main turf field—the atmosphere was surprisingly subdued, with empty bleachers and little energy from the home supporters. From the opening whistle, it was clear that New Hampton was the better side, dictating the tempo, dominating possession, and creating numerous chances on goal throughout both halves.

Unfortunately, the scoreboard didn’t reflect the team’s performance. Dexter Southfield capitalized on one of their few opportunities to edge out a 1–0 win—a result that felt undeserved given the flow of play. Their goalkeeper made several outstanding saves, and their defenders repeatedly blocked shots on the goal line. Considering the number of chances New Hampton produced, it simply wasn’t the team’s night in front of goal.

Senior Captain, Griffin, led by example, battling through a hard elbow to the face that left a visible bruise on his cheekbone. The midfield was exceptional, with relentless effort from Song, who nearly equalized in the final minutes with a powerful strike that forced a rebound in the six-yard box. Ricardo turned in his best performance of the season off the bench, while Tosin brought unmatched energy on the left wing—his most fired-up performance yet. Cubby hustled tirelessly in the midfield, and Dario stepped up with composure and grit on defense, providing stability off the bench.

Although the result didn’t go their way, the Huskies left Boston with their heads held high. It was a performance full of possession, teamwork, and resilience—one that showed New Hampton’s quality and promise heading into the next stretch of the season.
