New Hampton Women’s Lacrosse opened their home slate on Kennedy Field against KUA and delivered a complete team performance from start to finish. After battling through a competitive opening stretch, the Huskies found their rhythm and pulled ahead 8–3 by halftime. The offense clicked as a true unit, with seven different players finding the back of the net and the team’s chemistry clearly taking shape.
Kaya Farnsworth ’26 set the tone early on the draw, helping New Hampton control possession throughout the first half. The circle unit took over in the second quarter, winning all five draws and limiting KUA’s opportunities while fueling the Huskies’ transition game. Farnsworth finished with a dominant 14 draw controls, contributing to an impressive 21–25 team performance at the draw.
The momentum from those possessions carried into the second half, where the defensive unit locked in and shut out KUA entirely in the third quarter. Abby Poole ’27 recorded four saves through the first three quarters, paving the way for Gianna Young ’27 to earn her first varsity minutes in goal this season.
Fia Swormstedt ’27 led the way with a dominant all-around performance, tallying 7 ground balls, 5 assists, and 4 goals. Tova Yerardi ’26 followed with 5 ground balls, 4 goals, and 2 assists. Emma MacPherson ’27, Kaya Farnsworth ’26, and Kristen Vinagro ’27 each contributed 4 ground balls, helping the Huskies reach a season-high 32 as a team.
Additional impact came from Audra Custance ’27, who caused 2 turnovers, and Brooke King, who added 3 assists and a goal. In total, nine players contributed offensively, including Ella Zeman ’29 with her first two goals of the season, along with a pair each from Madi Hannon ’26 and Kaya Farnsworth ’26. MacPherson, Tricia Carr ’27, and Cara Kuczak ’26 also added goals to round out the scoring.
This game provided a much-needed spark, highlighting how strong team play on both ends of the field leads to success. The Huskies will look to carry that momentum into the weekend as they host Cushing Academy at 3:30 PM back on Kennedy Field.
