New Hampton falls to Holderness in Lakes Region opener

New Hampton Women’s Lacrosse opened Lakes Region play with a short trip north to face Holderness. The Huskies came out focused and ready to compete but found themselves trailing 5–3 after the first quarter. After regrouping, the defensive unit made key in-game adjustments and stepped into the second quarter with renewed energy and purpose.
Despite the effort, New Hampton ultimately fell 13–6. Tova Yerardi ’26 led the offense with three goals and an assist, while Fia Swormstedt ’27 added a goal and an assist, making a strong impact beyond the stat sheet with her off-ball movement. That movement helped create opportunities for Tricia Carr ’27, who stepped up in a crucial moment and netted her first two goals of the season. Emma MacPherson ’27 and Kaya Farnsworth ’26 each contributed an assist.
There are clear signs of progress across the field. Team chemistry continues to build, and the group’s mindset remains focused. Defensively, the unit is growing more cohesive and improving with each possession. On the offensive end, more players are stepping up and creating opportunities, leading to a more dynamic attack. While the result wasn’t what the Huskies were hoping for, the foundation is taking shape, and the team continues to compete with resilience.
Next up, the Huskies host their home opener on Wednesday, 4/8 against KUA at 2:30 PM.
