New Hampton Varsity B returned home Friday night for a matchup against the Rectory School. From the outset, New Hampton's offense was flat. Two buckets by Beau Millar gave the Huskies a 13-11 lead, but the rest of the first half was a nightmare on the offensive side of the floor.
Missed layups, missed foul shots, and stagnant offense doomed the Huskies to only 19 points in the first half. Rectory took a 31-19 lead into halftime.
In the second half, defense kept New Hampton in the game. Limiting Rectory to only 21 points in the frame, New Hampton several times drew as close as 2 and 3 points. But turnovers and a continuous string of misses from the foul line thwarted any comeback attempt.
Beau Millar and Ryder Brainis paced the Huskies on offense, while Jasper Bias-Derry led the team in rebounds. Unfortunately, 5-17 from the foul line and 1-13 from three-point land were not enough on this night, and New Hampton dropped a tough contest, 52-46.
New Hampton hits the road tomorrow to take on Cushing Varsity at 3 PM.
