Huskies extend win streak to 6

The Huskies traveled down to Holy Cross for the annual Scholar Roundball Classic. This event typically matches up teams across different levels and allows us the ability to play out of region teams. This year, we were able to face The Hill School from Pottstown, PA.

In the first half, New Hampton did a strong job defensively forcing tough shots, being active in gaps and limiting Hill to 1 shot a possession. We were a little complacent offensively, but once we started to run hard in transition, we were able to push out to a 10 point lead at half.

In the second half, we started very similarly to the way we finished the first half, extending the lead to 20 early on. If was because of strong defense, quick run out offense in transition and our ability to offensive rebound. In the final 10 minutes of play, we got sloppy on offense, having several unforced turnovers and missed layups, and allowed Hill to get back in the game. Hill cut the deficit to 5 with about 5 to go. We buckled down and finished strong, making our free throws and getting stops late, which allowed us to get out of Worcester with a 9 point victory.

We had great contributions all over the place: Chad Cook (20 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 block), Wesley Waddles (15 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal), James Sanderson (12 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals), Jayden Harrington (10 points, 3 rebounds and 6 assists). Griffin Sward and Edison Onwe both chipped in 8 and 7 off the bench.
