The Huskies got off to a hot start on the defensive end, forcing a lot of deflections and causing steals and turnovers. On offense, we shot a really high percentage from 3 to start. As we got into the middle of the first half, we struggled to make shots at the rim consistently and had strong defensive possessions that ended in bad breakdowns late. We were hanging on to a 33-29 lead heading into the half.
In the second half, the Huskies started of by getting a steal, but missed a layup on the ensuing possession. That perfect summed up how the Huskies had to win the game. We had strong defensive stretches, but then mixed in strong offensive stretches. Worcester cut it to 3 late, but New Hampton was able to execute offensively late and make free throws, ultimately hanging on to a 81-74 victory.
New Hampton had 4 people score double digit points: Chad Cook (22 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists), Stetson Merritt (19 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals) Jayden Harrington (12 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 assist) and Wesley Waddles (12 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals).
