The Huskies came back from break a little rusty vs. Vermont Academy. Vermont is a strong contender in AAA this season so the Huskies knew they had to be ready to go. AAA home games are so incredibly important for the success of the season.
In the first half, both teams really struggled to score. These two teams are really familiar with one another and had great scouts to take away what each team wanted to do. We found a lot of success in the first half on the offensive glass and with smart/timely cuts. We found ourselves up 1 heading into the half.
In the second half, the Huskies found themselves in a groove early, getting good lucks at the rim. They started to settle in defensively, forcing a lot of deflections. We were able to rely on that side of the ball when we went through an offensive lull towards the end of the game. We were able to get clutch makes late from Trey Jones and Edison Onwe. Stetson Merritt sealed the deal late, with 2 clutch free throws.
The Huskies had two double digit scorers: Edison Onwe (14 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal) and Chad Cook (11 points, 3 assists, 2 rebounds and 1 steal). James Sanderson also chipped in 8 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals.
