The heated rivalry vs. Tilton was in full display on Friday. Tilton has made a resurgence with coach O'Neill making his return to the sidelines for the rams.
This game was a complete track meet, with both teams just flying up and down the floor. There was a point in the second half where it got really sloppy offensively, each team turning it over multiple times back to back. Tilton held a lead heading into the half. The Huskies knew they were in for a dog fit.
In the second half, we started off strong, scoring 3 straight possessions. The challenge was, we could not find consistent stops. We also shot a paltry 58.1% from the free throw line and could not capitalize on the easy ones. Late, we had a few defensive breakdowns that allowed Tilton to take a late lead. In these late moments, the Huskies were able to lean on their senior leadership of Jayden Harrington and Chad Cook to close out the game. We were able to prevail late 96-86.
The Huskies had 3 people score 20+ points: Chad Cook (23 points, 5 rebounds and 1 steal), Jayden Harrington (21 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals) and James Sanderson (20 points, 7 assists, 4 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 block).
