Cushing Tops Huskies

ASHBURNHAM, MA --

The Huskies hit the road for a midweek NEPSAC matchup against Cushing, where the home team came out with pace and physicality, putting the Huskies on their heels early. Despite weathering the initial push, Cushing capitalized on their chances and carried a 2–0 lead into the first intermission. The Huskies responded with a much stronger second period, elevating their effort and compete level while beginning to tilt the ice. Sophomore Liv Murray ’28 scored her first career Husky goal to cut the deficit in half and give the Huskies momentum and a chance to equalize. However, defensive-zone breakdowns allowed Cushing to add two more goals late in the period, extending their lead to 4–1 heading into the third. New Hampton continued to push in the final frame, generating multiple quality scoring chances and applying sustained pressure. Senior captain Kelsey Baker ’26 buried a goal to make it 4–2 and inject life into the Huskies’ comeback attempt. Despite the strong third-period effort, Cushing held firm defensively and closed out the game with a 4–2 victory. The Huskies now turn their focus to another tough road test, traveling to face a strong Andover team on Friday, 2/6, with a 4:00 p.m. puck drop.
