Huskies Edged at Home in 2025 NEPSAC Final Rematch

NEW HAMPTON, NH --

The Huskies hosted St. Mark’s in a highly anticipated rematch of the 2025 Small School NEPSAC Championship, and both teams came ready to compete, bringing high effort and intensity from the opening puck drop. The first period was tightly contested and back-and-forth, with both teams generating quality chances but unable to capitalize, sending the game into the first intermission scoreless. Goaltender Elizabeth Vincent ’27 was outstanding in the opening frame, turning away several high-danger opportunities from St. Mark’s to keep the Huskies level. The second period mirrored the first in competitiveness, though St. Mark’s elevated their intensity and gained an edge in chances and shots. They eventually broke through to score the first goal of the game and take a 1–0 lead. The Huskies responded on the power play, as senior captain Addy Peel unloaded a rocket from the point to even the score at 1–1. The third period saw the Huskies raise their level of play, bringing sustained effort and offensive pressure. A defensive-zone breakdown allowed St. Mark’s to regain the lead, but the Huskies answered quickly when Merritt Fitch ’28 buried a clutch snipe to tie the game once again. A missed call followed by a penalty against New Hampton gave St. Mark’s a late power-play opportunity, which they converted into the eventual game-winning goal in the final two minutes. Despite a hard-fought, high-intensity effort, the Huskies came up just short. The Huskies will look to bounce back and return to the win column on Wednesday, 2/4, when they travel to Cushing.
