The Huskies continued their season at home with a NEPSAC matchup against Thayer Academy, looking to build momentum after a dominant win the previous night against Tilton. Their effort was consistent from the opening puck drop, executing an aggressive and effective forecheck that pressured Thayer’s defense. Both teams traded chances early, but the Huskies controlled the majority of play throughout the first period—and much of the game. Sophomore Merritt Fitch ’28 opened the scoring with her first Husky goal, giving the Huskies a 1–0 lead heading into the second. Goaltender Elizabeth “Eli” Vincent ’27 was sharp in net, turning aside Thayer’s chances and keeping the Huskies on top.
The second period mirrored the first, with the Huskies dominating possession and offensive-zone time. Eli continued to stand tall, making save after save to keep Thayer off the board. Senior Lilly Thomas ’26 earned a penalty shot after being taken down on a clear breakaway. She made a strong move, but the Thayer goaltender came up with the stop to keep the Huskies at one. Thayer eventually found the equalizer late in the period, sending the game into the third tied 1–1.
Both teams came out with urgency in the final frame, searching for the go-ahead goal, but strong goaltending on both ends kept the game tight. The Huskies’ forecheck remained relentless and rarely let up, generating the majority of the scoring chances as play went back and forth. However, a brief defensive-zone breakdown allowed Thayer to capitalize and take a 2–1 lead with just 50 seconds remaining. The Huskies pushed hard for the equalizer but ultimately ran out of time, and Thayer added an empty-net goal to seal the win.
The Huskies now turn their attention to the Dexter Southfield Tournament, taking place December 19–21, as they look to pick up key wins before the holiday break.
