The Huskies faced a major test against #4-ranked NEPSAC powerhouse Dexter Southfield, eager to measure themselves against a firmly established Elite 8 program. The matchup provided a valuable benchmark for where the Huskies stand against one of the league’s top teams. Dexter came out strong, setting a fast pace and applying immediate pressure. After weathering the early surge, the Huskies began to find their stride and compete more consistently, matching Dexter’s intensity shift by shift. Despite their growing confidence, Dexter’s relentless offensive attack kept the Huskies pinned in their defensive zone for extended stretches, forcing them to defend under pressure. Offensively, the Huskies generated some opportunities but struggled to capitalize on loose pucks around the net and second-chance opportunities that could have shifted momentum. Goaltender Elizabeth Vincent ’27 battled hard between the pipes, making key saves and doing her best to keep the Huskies within reach. Ultimately, Dexter’s offensive depth and sustained pressure proved to be a difficult challenge for the Husky defense. Dexter tallied two goals in the first period, added two more in the second, and sealed the game with one in the third. While the scoreboard favored the #4-ranked squad, the experience served as another important measuring stick as the Huskies continue to grow and prepare for postseason play. The Huskies will look to regroup and get back in the win column when they travel to Brewster on Saturday, 2/21.
