International Night Celebrates Culture, Food, and the Arts

Will McCulloch
There are few evenings at New Hampton School that ignite more anticipation than International Night. Monday evening lived up to expectations as International students rallied to provide one of the most memorable nights in the program's history.

Lines were packed for crepes made by Canadian students, homemade sushi, the always popular Korean Barbecue, and assorted rice dishes as well as desserts from around the world. Meanwhile, students shared cultural activities and games from their home countries. The passion and excitement poured over into McEvoy Theater where the entertainment of the evening began with the annual parade of flags representing the school's diverse community of students and community members from 39 countries.

What followed was nothing short of spectacular — a combination of singing, dancing, and music that will be remembered for a long time. It included 10 different performances, which can all be viewed on New Hampton School TV in the archive (click here). Tim Nugmanov ’15 from Kazakhstan was a charming MC for the evening. Ms Farr-Williams, Director of the International Support Program, was thrilled with the participation of the International Students. "This was the best variety of cultures represented in the performances so far," said Farr-Williams.

Special thanks to Ms. Farr-Williams and Mrs. Kesselring, who guided the students and international leaders for the weeks prior to the event. Watch the full event here.
