On Thursday morning, Student Body President Charlie Callif '14 texted the following message to the entire NHS community: “Due to the increased change in leaf color, we have no choice but to call off classes for today. Happy Foliage Day!” This welcomed surprise provided students and faculty with a day off from classes! Foliage Day is a New Hampton School fall holiday. This fifty-year-old tradition of a respite from the daily schedule brings the entire community on a hike from campus up to Burleigh Mountain for a BBQ, music, excursions up the Alpine Tower, games of frisbee, and more.
Alli Keith '14 enjoyed her last Foliage Day.
“My last Foliage day as a student was amazing... dancing with friends and Mrs. Frame at the end of the day. Seeing friends make it up the Alpine tower for the first time. Walking up with students, and learning new things about them,” says Keith. “It's a chance for the entire school school to get together and get to know each other in a different atmosphere."
