New Hampton Drops in a hard-fought game vs Andover

After a competitive battle against Dexter the day before, New Hampton returned focused and ready to take on #3 NEPSAC-ranked Phillips Academy — Andover. Andover jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter, going up 4–0. Based on the previous day’s performance, the coaching staff remained confident that the Huskies were still in the mix and approached the second quarter with a 0–0 mindset.

Kaya Farnsworth ‘26 stepped up early on the draw, winning four possessions to help shift momentum back into the attacking end. New Hampton responded with three goals, including two assisted connections between Fia Swormstedt ’27 and Tova Yerardi ’26, heading into halftime trailing 7–3.

Abby Poole ’27 kept the Huskies in the game with several key stops, finishing with 10 saves and two ground balls. Entering the second half, New Hampton remained focused and continued to battle. The defensive unit locked in, collecting 28 ground balls as a team. Tova Yerardi ’26 led the effort with five, while first-year Anna Perfield ’29 and Emma MacPherson ’27 each added three.

New Hampton continued to fight but ultimately came up short, falling 14–4. Fia Swormstedt ’27 and Tova Yerardi ’26 each recorded two goals and one assist. Emma MacPherson ’27 stepped into the draw unit late in the game, helping spark a final push by collecting five draw controls.

Overall, the Huskies showed their ability to compete throughout the weekend, even when facing adversity. New Hampton will return to action on April 8th against Holderness in their first Lakes Region competition. The team is ready to get back to work and focused on preparing for their next opponent.
