Huskies Drop Opening Round Game vs. Newman in NEBL postseason
The Huskies traveled down to Boston for the NEBL post season. We were the 3 seed in the tournament and took on Newman in the semi-finals.
Newman blitzed the Huskies early, jumping out to a 20-5 lead. The Huskies settled for really tough shots, were loose with the ball and did not sprint back on defense. Newman was far more physical and dictated what the Huskies did offensively. The Cardinals shot 52% from 3 in the first half compared to the Huskies 41.2% overall field goal percentage. We found ourselves down 28 at the half.
In the second half, the Huskies had their best scoring run of 8 and chipped the lead to 19 with 15 minutes to go. The damage was already done though and we could not get any closer. New Hampton won the second half by 2 points and were able to get valuable experience.
We had four in double digits: Stetson Merritt (16 points, 3 assists and 2 rebounds), James Sanderson (12 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists), Jayden Harrington (11 points and 4 assists), Chad Cook (10 points and 5 rebounds).
