Huskies Trade Punches but Fall Late to Tabor at Home

New Hampton fell to Tabor Academy, 60–68, in a hard-fought AAA contest that featured several lead changes and momentum swings throughout.

Tabor jumped out to a six-point advantage early, but the Huskies regrouped after a timeout. Key baskets from Chloe Dix, Ava Perry, and Elyse Ngenda steadied the offense and re-energized New Hampton. Shannon O’Leary converted a layup off a feed from Perry with 2:21 left in the opening quarter to give the Huskies their first lead of the game, 15–14.

New Hampton found its stride in the second period, rebounding with purpose, valuing possessions, and pushing the pace in transition. Serenity Lancaster scored back-to-back buckets to tie the game at 24, then set up Perry for a layup on the next possession to reclaim the lead. Ngenda controlled the glass, scored from multiple levels, and distributed effectively as the Huskies carried a 39–37 edge into halftime.

The third quarter saw both teams trade baskets and the lead. Saige DeJesus and Kailey Sullivan came up with timely plays late in the period, helping New Hampton take a narrow 52–51 advantage into the final quarter.

Dix opened the fourth with relentless energy, scoring on consecutive drives, securing defensive rebounds, and drawing a charge to keep the Huskies in front, 56–54, with six minutes remaining. However, turnovers proved costly down the stretch and Tabor capitalized with a decisive 10–0 run. The Huskies battled back to cut the deficit to four, but time became a factor, and Tabor was able to secure the win from the free throw line.
