New Hampton Battles in a Competitive Match vs High Mowing School

The New Hampton School Men’s JV B Basketball team played its most competitive game of the season on Saturday afternoon, narrowly falling to High Mowing School by a final score of 47–37.

The game was tight from the opening tip. New Hampton trailed by just four points at halftime, 26–22, after a hard-fought first half. Both teams played physical, disciplined basketball, with each side committing four team fouls in the opening half. High Mowing went to the line early, making four free throws while missing four.
Offensively in the first half, Levi led the way with an impressive scoring stretch, knocking down three three-point shots and converting two free throws. Steven added four points on two strong finishes inside, while Jerry contributed two points. Gabe hit a three-pointer, and Marek added a basket in the paint to keep the game close heading into the break.

The second half remained competitive throughout, with New Hampton continuing to battle on both ends of the floor. Levi added a two-point basket and another three-pointer, Jerry scored two points, Steven contributed five points with a three-pointer and a two-point basket, and Jasper knocked down a timely three. New Hampton committed four team fouls in the second half, while High Mowing recorded seven. High Mowing’s starting player, number 1, fouled out with two minutes remaining, leaving them without any substitutes for the closing stretch.

High Mowing struggled at the free-throw line in the second half, making just one of eight attempts, while New Hampton continued to pressure defensively and rebound aggressively. Despite multiple moments where the score was within four points or tied, High Mowing was able to hold on late.

Overall, this was a great competitive basketball game and the closest New Hampton has been to a win all season. The team played with physicality, rebounded well, ran the floor, and showed patience by working the ball around the perimeter on offense. The coaches were extremely proud of the players’ effort, toughness, and growth, as this performance reflected how far the team has come and set a strong standard moving forward.
