Huskies drop tough one

New Hampton made there 1 hour trip around the lake to take on Lakes Region rival, Brewster. This marked the first time the Huskies faced the Bobcats EYBL Scholastic team.

In the first half, the Huskies found themselves asleep defensively, giving up really good looks to the Bobcats. Brewster was able to run their actions and push the ball in transition, which kept New Hampton on their heels. The Huskies also failed to capitalize on the looks they created and did not do a good enough job crashing the offensive glass. We found ourselves down by as much as 21, but were able to close the gap to 17 by halftime.

The second half was a completely different story. The Huskies imposed themselves on the offensive end, winning extra possessions on the glass and making good clean 3 point looks. They relied on a zone late to get stops, leading to the final possession. We found ourselves down 3 with the ball and 5.5 seconds left. Unfortunately the Huskies came up just short, making a 2 pointer as the clock expired. We showed a grit in the comeback and gives us positive momentum for this weekend.

The Huskies had four in double digits: Chad Cook (16 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals), Jayden Harrinton (14 points, 4 assists, 2 rebounds and 1 steal), James Sanderson (13 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal), and Stetson Merritt (12 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists),
