The Huskies returned to the court from a 10-day hiatus and, after shaking off some early rust, began to find their rhythm. Casey Stores knocked down a three to get New Hampton on the board, and the Huskies settled in from there. Trailing by just one, New Hampton locked in defensively—stringing together steals, controlling the glass, and limiting Nobles’ offensive opportunities.
Kailey Sullivan’s late first-quarter triple gave the Huskies their first lead of the game, while Ava Perry made her presence felt on both ends of the floor. Perry crashed the boards, jumped passing lanes, and attacked the basket to help New Hampton take a four-point advantage into the second quarter.
The defensive intensity ramped up in the second, sparked by Abby Schrader and Chloe Dix, who earned deflections and steals which disrupted the Bulldogs. On the offensive end, Elyse Ngenda, Stores, and Sullivan found success from beyond the arc, allowing the Huskies to head into halftime with a 27–17 lead.
Serenity Lancaster was effective in the paint in the 3rd quarter, helping the Huskies maintain a 10-point cushion heading into the final stretch.
The Bulldogs made one final push with a 6–2 run in the fourth quarter, but Perry answered by finding Saige DeJesus alone in the corner, where she calmly knocked down a momentum-shifting three. Ngenda quickly followed up with a triple of her own. Dix, DeJesus, and Ngenda knocked down some key late-game free throws to secure the W.
A commitment to team defense, rebounding, three-point shooting, and playing with a sense of urgency were the keys to today's victory. New Hampton limited Nobles to single-digit scoring in all four quarters. Meanwhile NHS spread the offensive output around with Ngenda netting 10 points, Stores adding 8, and four other Huskies chipping in with 6. Ngenda and Dix anchored the effort on the glass with 7 and 6 rebounds apiece. Dix dished out a team-high 4 assists.
With the win, New Hampton improves to 11-4 and will travel to top-seeded Hoosac on Wednesday.
