Huskies Drop Road AAA Game

New Hampton hit the road for their 4 straight league game. We faced off against Vermont Academy who we had previously beat earlier in the year at home. We started off poorly, taking rushed shots and giving up several second chance opportunities to Vermont who capitalized. Vermont was extremely aggressive, plug gaps and forcing turnovers. The Huskies battled back though and closed the gap to 5 at the half.

 

In the second half, both teams started out strong offensively matching each other back and forth. From about the 14-minute mark to the 7-minute mark, the Huskies were within 1-4 points but weren't able to take the lead. Then we went on a strong run to take a 6 point lead. Down the stretch we were holding on, but Vermont eventually hit a big shot late to take a 1-point lead with 44 seconds to go. We were unable to capitalize on our opportunities late to tie or take the league and dropped the game. We are now 3-3 in league and 1-3 on the road.

 

New Hampton had 2 people score double digit points: Chad Cook (21 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 assist and 1 block) and Jayden Harrington (13 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists).
