Huskies move to 3-1 in AAA

New Hampton kicked off 2026 with a thrilling victory over Darrow, completing the season sweep of the AAA rivals. The Huskies got out to a quick 10-2 lead and found themselves firing on all cylinders. We extended our lead to 12 mid way through the first half. Towards the end of the half, we stopped executing offensively and had bad defensive lapses. Darrow went on a quick 6-0 run in the final 20 seconds to extend their lead to 4 at the half.

We struggled of out the gate in the second half, struggling to make shots and get paint touches. Darrow took advantage in transition and extended their lead to 12. In the final 10 minutes though, the Huskies were the more physical team. We forced several turnovers that led to easy buckets and forced Darrow into very tough shots. Down the stretch we kept our composure, made stops when we needed and were clutch from the free throw line. We improved to 9-4 on the year, 3-1 in AAA and 2-2 in the NEBL.

The Huskies had five in double digits: Jayden Harrington (22 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block), Wesley Waddles (15 points, 6 steals, 5 rebounds, 1 block), Edison Onwe (13 points, 7 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 block), Chad Cook (13 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 assist) and Stetson Merritt (11 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists).
