Fresh off a well-earned holiday break, the Huskies returned to action with just two days of practice under their belts before hitting the road for a Lakes Region League matchup at Kimball Union on Wednesday.
Both teams showed early signs of rust, but New Hampton found its rhythm midway through the opening quarter and seized control with a 15–6 lead. Shannon O’Leary and Elyse Ngenda sparked the Huskies offensively, setting the tone for the rest of the game.
Dominance on the glass proved to be a difference-maker as New Hampton consistently won the rebounding battle on both ends of the floor. That effort helped the Huskies extend their advantage to 30–17 at the half, with Libby Dahn leading the way by hauling in a game-high nine rebounds.
Balanced scoring was another key to the victory. Serenity Lancaster was the lone Husky in double figures, posting 10 points to go along with five rebounds, two steals, and an assist in just 12 minutes of action. In all, nine of the team’s ten available players found the scoring column.
The Huskies continued to apply pressure down the stretch, highlighted by Saige DeJesus drawing her second charge of the season in the fourth quarter. Mackensie Mercier capped the scoring with a basket late, sealing a 56–26 road win.
