Huskies Handle WMA, 57-41, in Second Round of Nickerson Showcase

New Hampton jumped out to a quick lead against Wilbraham & Monson Academy, as Chloe Dix and Serenity Lancaster scored on back-to-back possessions—both assisted by Elyse Ngenda—within the first 15 seconds. The Huskies would not relinquish that advantage, though the game settled into a grind as 34 fouls were called, 24 against New Hampton, making it difficult for either team to find a consistent rhythm.

Foul trouble forced the Huskies to lean on their depth early and often, and the bench responded. Casey Stores provided a spark on both ends, knocking down timely three-pointers, creating multiple deflections and steals, and dishing out three assists. Libby Dahn and Michaela Mercier also delivered productive minutes, helping New Hampton build a 37–22 halftime lead.

The final two quarters were low scoring for both teams, with frequent trips to the free-throw line slowing the pace. Abby Schrader, Shannon O’Leary, and Lancaster took full advantage, combining to shoot a perfect 7-for-7 at the line. Wilbraham & Monson finished 14-for-25 from the stripe, as the Huskies closed out a 57–41 victory to improve to 6–0 on the season.

Lancaster recorded another double-double, leading the team with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Kailey Sullivan played with poise and purpose, finishing with nine points. Ngenda filled the stat sheet with seven assists, seven rebounds, six points, two steals, two deflections, and two blocks, showcasing her all-around impact.

New Hampton will wrap up the Nickerson Showcase on Sunday, facing host Nobles at 12:30 p.m.
