New Hampton Varsity B headed down to Ashburnham, MA, for a matchup against Cushing's Varsity team on Saturday. After a tough loss at home to Rectory, New Hampton was looking to get into a groove and head into the Winter Break on a positive note.
The Huskies were able to do just that. From the opening jump, New Hampton's defense stumped the Penguins. Several turnovers and Beau Millar and-one play put New Hampton up by double-digits, a margin they would never relinquish.
Late in the first half, Cushing switched to a zone. After Friday night's poor performance from three-point land, New Hampton bounced back in a big way. A slew of three-pointers by Ryder Brainis, Jett Sizer, Colin Flanders, and Landon Jones extended a big Huskies' lead.
Overall, New Hampton heads into the break at 3-3 and with the feeling that they are only scratching the surface of their ability. They must, however, play with more passion, intensity, and togetherness, as the schedule in the second half of the season intensifies.
The Huskies return home for a MAISAD league game against perennial powerhouse Kents Hill on Friday, January 9th.
