It was a perfect day for field hockey and an even better day for another Lakes Region win! The Huskies took the field at home on Kennedy Field to face Proctor and came away with a strong 4–0 victory.
The Huskies brought great energy to warm-ups, eager to get on the board early. But in the first quarter, the team struggled to find their usual rhythm. Communication was quiet and play as a unit wasn’t quite clicking. After a quick regroup between quarters, the Huskies came out with renewed energy in the second, tightening their passing game and talking more on the field.
Six minutes into the second quarter, Lily Thomas sent a great ball upfield to Lanah Quong, who buried it in the back of the net to give the Huskies a 1–0 lead. Just minutes later, Lanah sent a perfectly placed diagonal ball through the circle, where Lola Gallo tipped it in to make it 2–0 going into halftime.
At halftime, the team focused on defensive adjustments, clean spacing, and smart passing decisions. The third quarter was buzzing with energy from both the field and the bench. The Huskies generated several dangerous offensive chances before capitalizing on a corner play. Kelsey Baker sent a great ball toward goal that Cara Kuczek was able to finish, putting New Hampton up 3–0. Goalie Luna McCulloch came up big with a couple of key clears in the quarter to keep the shutout intact. With just 45 seconds left in the third, Lily Thomas intercepted a pass and fed Lanah Quong, who ripped her second goal of the day to make it 4–0.
In the fourth quarter, the Huskies mixed up positions to give players different looks. Kelsey Baker stepped into defense, Emma MacPherson shifted into a more defensive midfield role, and Kayla O’Connor tried playing high mid for the first time. Tricia Carr, Tova Yerardi, Liv Esposito, Liv Murray, and Emilie Poitier all stepped in with great energy, while Katie Kavka made a strong contribution when she subbed in for defense.
After a slow first quarter, the Huskies found their groove and never looked back, closing out a 4–0 win. Next up, another Lakes Region matchup at home on Wednesday against Tilton.
Go Huskies!
