Huskies Win at Home

New Hampton took down Vermont Academy for their home opener on Kennedy Field on a day that saw strong team efforts across the field.

Emma Labrie would open the scoring after forcing a turnover from the Vermont back line that she'd convert past the Vermont goalkeeper in the 7th minute.

New Hampton would double their lead off of a great team play with the ball starting on the New Hampton defensive line with Addy Peel switching the field to Gianna Young who then played a pass in to Katie Usilton who one-timed a through ball to Elizabeth Vincent whose cross then found the foot of Labrie for her second of the game.

Labrie would finish off the scoring before the half as she completed her hat trick after a great through ball from Adriana Romano-DiTella out of the midfield. Along with Romano-DiTella, the Huskies relied on strong midfield play from Clara Thompson, Zuri Jimenez, Merritt Fitch, and Usilton.

In the second half, New Hampton would look to keep the visitors off the scoreboard with Danika Virgin and Casey Stores combining for the shutout in net. The Huskies looked to add to the scoring with Taylor Smith putting a shot from distance close to frame and Nellie MacDonald putting in several strong crosses from the wing.
