Huskies Punch Their Ticket to the NEPSAC Championship!

The Huskies had a fantastic semifinal WIN against Portsmouth Abbey and are heading to the NEPSAC Championship game! They’ll face the King School in tomorrow’s final, but first, let’s reflect on today’s outstanding performance.

The Huskies came out excited and ready to go, starting the game with immediate pressure and strong ball movement. About five minutes into the first quarter, they found their rhythm. Their passing was sharp, communication was on point, and it was everything you want to see in Husky field hockey. With six and a half minutes left in the quarter, the Huskies earned a corner. Lily capitalized, scoring off a perfect feed that Emma touched before Lily got her stick on the ball to put the Huskies up 1-0.

The momentum continued into the second quarter. Portsmouth Abbey made some dangerous runs and drew offensive corners, but the Huskies responded with disciplined low sticks and poised defensive play. Luna was rock-solid in the cage, stepping confidently to every ball and shutting down chances. With just over a minute left in the half, the Huskies earned another corner. This time it was Kelsey with a strong direct shot that Emma tipped into the back of the net, giving the Huskies a 2-0 lead going into halftime.

At the half, the Huskies focused on using the right side more and passing with purpose. Defensively, they committed to communicating and marking all open players. Fired up, the Huskies stepped onto the field for the second half and immediately regained control. Both teams had chances, but with two and a half minutes left in the third quarter, the Huskies struck again. Lily sent a ball up to Lanah, who dribbled through defenders, pulled the goalie out, and then ripped a beautiful shot into the far post. The Huskies were up 3-0 and in full command.

The fourth quarter was a display of pure teamwork. The Huskies built walls all over the field, stayed composed, and refused to let Portsmouth Abbey capitalize in the defensive circle. Their communication, confidence, and grit were on full display from start to finish.

The Huskies worked relentlessly all game and never let up. They are ecstatic to advance to tomorrow’s championship and can’t wait to show up and give it everything they’ve got.
LET’S GO HUSKIES!
