The Huskies came out strong in an exciting quarterfinal matchup against the Proctor Hornets, earning a 2-0 victory at home. Fired up and ready to play, the Huskies immediately applied pressure as the Hornets started with possession, quickly taking control of the ball.
Proctor brought plenty of hustle, keeping the game competitive and fast paced. The Huskies did an outstanding job keeping the Hornets out of their defensive circle, making key stops and smart clears through the midfield. With 3:07 left in the first quarter, Lily sent a great pass into the circle to Lanah, who showed impressive stick work around defenders and pulled the Hornets goalie before finding the back of the net. The Huskies were on the board 1-0.
Between quarters, the team focused on communication and using their speed to beat Proctor’s defense. Although they started the second quarter a bit slow, the Huskies quickly found their rhythm, continuing to hold strong defensively and earning two offensive corners. Despite solid execution, the Hornets defense held firm, keeping the score 1-0 heading into halftime.
At halftime, the Huskies emphasized staying composed, communicating well, and playing their game. They came out hungry in the third quarter, dominating play from the start. Just three minutes in, Lola sent a perfectly placed ball toward goal, and Lanah reached around the Hornet defense to tap it in for her second of the day, extending the Huskies lead to 2-0.
The Hornets continued to press hard, but the Huskies defense stayed locked in. Luna faced only two shots thanks to strong steps, low sticks, and excellent teamwork from the backfield. The team also defended four corners with precision and composure.
Even when faced with some tough calls late in the game, the Huskies kept their focus, demonstrating great resilience and a next play mentality. Their discipline and patience in the final minutes sealed the shutout and secured their spot in the semifinals.
