Huskies Take Down the Bobcats 1-0

The Huskies came out on top with a 1-0 win over the Brewster Bobcats. They were energetic and ready to go, taking the field with momentum and starting out strong. Brewster began with possession, but the Huskies quickly stepped up, won the ball, and immediately went on the attack. Within the first 30 seconds, they earned a great opportunity in the circle, but the Brewster defense held strong.

The Huskies dominated the first ten minutes, controlling play and allowing the Bobcats very few chances with the ball. In the final five minutes of the first quarter, the Bobcats gained some momentum and pushed offensively, but both teams traded corner opportunities without being able to capitalize.

During the first quarter, Cara took a tough ball and stick combination to her middle finger, which immediately turned purple. She showed her toughness, got splinted and iced, and was right back in the game for the second quarter.

In the second quarter, the Huskies focused on communication and playing their game. They created several scoring chances, taking great shots that went just wide, and continued to earn offensive corners that came close to breaking through. The first half ended 0-0, with the Huskies feeling hungry and determined.

At halftime, they talked about wanting to score and emphasized the importance of playing their “little game” of strong passes, patience, heads up, and smart use of space. They knew that by focusing on these details, the goals would come. The message was clear: they were dominating, but needed to finish.

The third quarter brought some adversity with a few questionable cards, but the Huskies stayed composed and played through it. Luna made an outstanding save in net and the team rallied to maintain offensive pressure.

Between the third and fourth quarters, the Huskies reminded each other how much they wanted this win. Their energy, excitement, and focus carried into the final quarter. They hustled all over the field, getting up and back, keeping low sticks, and breaking up Brewster’s attack with strong jabs and block tackles.

The Huskies continued to generate quality corners and offensive looks but just could not find the back of the net until 5:28 remained on the clock. A great passing sequence led to the ball entering the circle, where after a few quick touches, Lanah found Lola, who sent a hard reverse shot into the back of the net to put the Huskies on the board 1-0.

The Huskies held their ground for the remaining minutes, hustling until the final whistle and nearly adding to their lead multiple times. It was a well-earned Lakes Region win.

The Huskies now look ahead to their final regular season game on Friday against KUA and an exciting Senior Game celebration. Go Huskies!
