Men's Lacrosse vs. Kimball Union Academy

This past Wednesday the New Hampton Huskies traveled to Pope Field upon the campus of Kimball Union Academy. There, the Huskies faced off against the Wildcats of KUA in a Lakes Region League game on a beautiful spring day.

The tilt began with the Huskies hitting the scoreboard first around the nine-minute mark in the first quarter. The Wildcats responded with a notch of their own. With the match at one a piece the Wildcats faced some foul issues. With a two-man advantage, the Huskies were able to capitalize upon their second goal. While six on six late in the quarter, the Huskies were able to find the net once again with .07 sec. remaining. A late hit after the goal, and a face off win ensured the Huskies the ball upon restart of the second quarter. In a un-daunting effort by the Wildcats, they were able to gain possession and expire their remaining penalty time only to be followed by a goal. Building upon a newfound momentum, the Wildcats scored a pair of goals, one of which was upon an extra man advantage.  The back and fourth resulted in a 6-5 game at half.

The restart resulted with no face-off and the Wildcats would have a man advantage for nearly two minutes.  The Husky’s man-down unit sank their heels in and were able to gather possession from the Wildcats, followed by a single-handed clearing effort that made all the difference. From there, the Huskies would not look back. Out scoring the Wildcats 3-1 in the third quarter and 3-1 in the fourth quarter. This was no easy task, as the Wildcats defense was the most relentless, and most physical team the Huskies have faced this year.

Next, the Huskies host the Hebron ‘Jacks at Kennedy Field at 3pm on Saturday.
