New Hampton vs. Kimball Union

Wednesday April 16, 2014
New Hampton School 10 vs. Kimball Union Academy 2

Unlike many of the fair weathered spring game days that New England sports teams have seen thus far, Wednesday’s weather took a step backwards towards the depths of winter. The morning rise yielded a blanket of snow covering many parts of the region. At 5:30 pm, game time temperature was pegged at 26°F. For the boys of spring, this sport is no pastime.

The Kimball Union Wildcats arrived at Kennedy Field rolling on a three game win streak. The Wildcat’s momentum did not stop when they rolled off the bus. The Huskies trailed after the opening goal of the game. That pecking order did not last for long. Chipping away at a solid Wildcat defense throughout the first half placed the Huskies with a four-goal lead.

With the sun setting upon Kennedy Field both teams resumed play. The back and forth action was sprinkled by very few penalty minutes on either side. The Huskies capitalized upon two Wildcat infractions, and continued to patiently chip away at the Wildcat defense. With new Husky faces adding to the scoring column, the final score stood at 10-2.

Maine is the next tour stop for the Husky squad, as they gear up to face the Hebron Lumberjacks on Saturday.
