The New Hampton School Mountain Biking Team traveled to Proctor Academy in Andover, NH., for the first ever mountain biking race at the Blackwater Ski Area. This fast course posted a 2.8 mile loop with fast downhills and a lot of flats. All Husky riders put in a tremendous effort and five earned podium spots.
Freshman Casey Simkounas worked through a challenging girls' field to finish in fourth behind three KUA riders. For the "C" group, riders Sachin Patel and Charles Evans finished fourth and fifth respectively. Ricky Sousa and David Tanos worked as a team in the "B" division to generate fasters times. As the race came down to the wire, Sousa edged out Tanos for the first place spot, but both riders finished nearly one minute ahead of the rest of the field.
Many first year riders improved their finishes since last week thanks to beautiful weather and hard work. The Huskies travel to KUA next week in hopes of another fine performance.
