New Hampton started off strong, forcing turnovers and scoring in transition. Cate MacDonald was aggressive from the start, and scored the basketball well; she finished with 26 points and 13 rebounds. Defensively Martina Pike communicated well, forcing tough shots and limiting Holderness to second chance opportunities. Mia Mancini was efficient with her scoring and passing game, shooting 75% from the field; she finished with 13 points and 5 assists. Tahlia Peña was lights out from the three, going 100%; finishing the game with 11 points. Claire Finney, once again, was a huge factor for New Hampton’s success. Her stat sheet of 8 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists, do not fully demonstrate her impact of the game. Adriana Hernandez and Emily Hobausz were menaces on the court. And don’t let their height fool you, they are aggressive on the boards, both on the offense and defensive ends. Anna Wolf was another big rebounder for us in the fourth quarter, keeping Holderness to one shot. It can be difficult to play on the road with not many fans, but Lucy Palmer and others on the bench continued to stay loud and encourage their teammates. It was a good team win! Final score 67 – 38.
