New Hampton had a successful trip to Maine to face the Lumberjacks of Hebron Academy. The Huskies got on the board early when senior captain Emily Greenwood converted form the penalty spot. Hebron answered quickly with a goal 5 minutes later that pinged the under side of the crossbar from 20 yards out. New Hampton didn't take long to regain the lead when sophomore Kaelin Fitzpatrick netted her first of two goals on the afternoon. The Huskies third came from freshman Adriana Hernandez, scoring her first career goal off a well worked assist from Fitzpatrick! Fitzpatrick notched her second to put New Hampton up 4-1 before her sister, junior captain Brielle Fitzpatrick, netted twice in a row off a pair of long range blasts to send the Huskies into the break up 6-1.
New Hampton added one more goal midway through the second half when senior Paige Noyes crossed into the box to find an onrushing Hernandez who tapped in from close range for her second goal of the game. A Fitzpatrick-Fitzpatrick connection nearly put the Huskies on 8 goals when Brielle's cross was met by Kaelin's header, but the effort blazed just over the crossbar. Senior Nga Nguyen also had a good look in the closing minutes, but her shot from the corner of the 6-yard box struck the side netting. Post grad Emma Robertson was an integral part of the Husky attack as well, peppering the Lumberjack net with shots and helping to setup several Husky goals. Junior keeper Anna Wolf had to stay on her toes, making several clutch saves in the second half to keep Hebron from adding a second.
New Hampton is back to work next week with home and away matches against KUA.
