The energy was high for the final game of our season. Between celebrating our Seniors, feeling the pull of the Full Moon and the Halloween candy, we had a lot of drive. The first quarter was a bit of back and forth but primarily remained in Bulls territory. The Bulls had a lot of good passing opportunities, and their defense held off the Huskies.
Huskies kept the pressure on and in the 2nd quarter and with 3 minutes remaining, freshman Julia Loughlin received a ball from Taylor Settles at the circle and drove it straight through the crowd into the back of the cage. Settles was on fire, and 2 minutes later, earned her second assist on a goal by Bridget Hausman.
Huskies kept up the pressure and the spirit on the sideline was extraordinary. In the 3rd, Hausman carried through the middle and placed a well-positioned pass to the post which was expertly occupied by Brigid England who redirected the ball into the opposite corner for goal # 3
Goal #4 was scored by Sophia Shwartzman on an assist from Julia Loughlin at the 6 minute mark, and to finish off the offensive attack, Junior Kareena Alam carried the ball in, with one minute remaining and scored with a reverse sweep to the back of the cage. The Bulls keeper had many saves on the day.
The husky defense did have a few harrowing moments but held strong. Allowing only a couple shots on the net, which were fended off by Sarah LaCroix.
We appreciate our 4-year seniors, Cassie and Sam along for your commitment and dedication to New Hampton Field Hockey. We know you’ll always bleed green. Thank you and Best of luck. Go Huskies!
