New Hampton came out strong against the Wildcats, despite the cold and rainy conditions. The Huskies possessed well throughout the first half, but the game went into the break scoreless. The action picked right back up in the second frame as both teams saw good chances on goal. KUA got on the board first after a controversial penalty call inside the box. The KUA striker found the left side netting to go up 1-0. New Hampton poured on the pressure and found their equalizer with 20 minutes to go. Freshman forward Teagan Hurley beat her defender down the left wing and chipped into the box to find sophomore midfielder Kaelin Fitzpatrick streaking in. Fitzpatrick settled with her first touch and blasted her volley just inside the far post with her second.
Both teams continued to seek the winner in the closing minutes. Junior keeper Anna Wolf made 3 huge saves in the final 10 minutes to keep the scoreline level. Efforts on the Husky attacking end from junior captain Brielle Fitzpatrick, junior midfielder Brenna Young, and freshman forward Adriana Hernandez were all saved or deflected, and the game ended at 1-1.
