Huskies Defeat Hebron Academy

New Hampton finally returned to their home turf this afternoon to face off against Hebron Academy, traveling over from Maine.  It was a chilly afternoon, but the Huskies showed up ready to play.  After a strong warmup and switching players around to some new positions, the Huskies played the best 15 minutes of field hockey New Hampton has ever seen.  They did everything right, except get the ball in the net.  A strong defensive effort by Hebron's goalie, Lauren Yomantas, kept New Hampton at bay.  With 10 shots and 4 corners in the first half, New Hampton created many opportunities and kept the pressure high.  But they couldn't finish and the half ended with a 0-0 tie.

Both teams came out strong in the second half and it was a battle for possession.  Despite some beautiful passes into the circle early on, it wasn't until 26:00 into the second half that the Huskies finally put the ball and the game away with a goal from senior, Ally Derthick.  The Huskies improve to 6-2.  New Hampton will focus on recreating the intensity and communication that was present in the first half of this game, when they face Brewster Academy this Saturday.
