Huskies Battle the Elements

The varsity golf team traveled to Newbury Ma. this past Wednesday to open up our preseason matches. The Huskies brought eight players. Four returning starters from last year, and four new players. 

The weather was not ideal for our first time out this season. The wind was blowing 15~20mph off the ocean with temps in the low 40’s, which were tough enough conditions to make playing a solid round a little harder.

The teams captains both carded impressive rounds. Will Wu playing in the number one spot, shot a four over par 39 and Mark Belcher in the two spot, shot a five over par 40. Both scores were not enough to fend off their opponents. 

Playing in the three spot was Jack Kidd. Jack found himself down two holes on the eighth tee box, and battled back to tie the match on the final green. Nate Blanchard played in the 5 spot and turned in the third lowest round of the team for the day. He went back and forth with his opponent the whole match and managed to close the door on the eighth hole. 

Newcomers Eli Arvidson, Grady Moore, Johnny Niemela and Ray MacDougall, all played with grit and determination and positivity.
