St. Paul's Skate Past New Hampton to Lakes' Region Championship

NEW HAMPTON, -

The huskies earned home-ice advantage for the Lakes Region championship game against St. Paul's School (SPS). It is always a good matchup between these two teams. Both teams started off hard and strong, with the period being back and forth. SPS capitalized on a husky D-zone breakdown, to open the scoring to 1-0. However, shortly after, True Thompson '25 tied the game at 1 with a beautiful finish off a pass from Caroline Thomas '25. The first ended with a score of 1-1. SPS started off the second very strong, and came at the huskies hard. Penalties, again, were the crutch of the huskies and back to back power plays allowed SPS to take a commanding 4-1 lead after the second. The huskies came out strong in the third, but they were no match for SPS who added to their lead early, to make it 5-1. The rest of the third was scoreless, so the final was 5-1 SPS. Congratulations to SPS for winning the Lakes Region Championship! The huskies will earn a bye for the first round of the Small School tournament, and will play in the semis against the winner of Frederick Gunn School vs Rivers School.
