Huskies Shutout Bulls in First Home Game of 2024

On Saturday afternoon the New Hampton School Huskies played host to the Holderness Blue Bulls hoping to get back on track after dropping their first game of the new year to KUA earlier in the week.

NHS opened the scoring halfway through the 1st period when Griffin Taylor’s behind-the-net pass found Malcom Churchill on the doorstep where he beat the goalie short side.

At the end of the first period, the Husky offense connected on a few quick passes in the Holderness zone before Griffin Taylor’s quick release from the slot found the back of the net to double their lead at the buzzer.

Holderness held off several Husky power-play chances and NHS freshman goalie Jamie Schatz turned aside a flurry of quality chances to keep the score 2-0 after two periods.

Both teams exchanged chances in the 3rd period at even strength and on their respective power plays, but neither could capitalize until the final minutes when Husky freshman Chase Fitch potted an empty net goal from center ice to secure the 3-0 win for NHS.

The two teams will meet again for their second and final matchup of the season on January 29th at Holderness School.
